- Married to Adrienne Nesser, Billy Armstrong has two children with her.
- In 1995, he identified as Bisexual within an interview with The Advocate, stating that he’d always been bisexual and that he viewed it as a very beautiful.
- In April 2010, he states in an interview with Out Magazine -
‘There were a lot of people who didn’t accept it, who were homophobic.” (Armstrong’s interviewer, Shana Naomi Krochmal, notes at this point that “Fans still fill message board threads with fights about just how gay Armstrong actually is.”) Armstrong continued saying “The fact that it’s an issue is kind of phobic within itself. At some point, you gotta think, this should be something that’s just accepted.’ Armstrong also added: ‘I don’t really classify myself as anything. And when it comes to sex, there are parts of me that are very shy and conservative. I want to respect my wife.’
